Connectivity and Geometry Issues on Highways in New Zealand

Hi OSM Oceania,
looking for mappers who know their way around highways and enjoy cleaning up quality issues in their free time. We have put together a mapping challenge for New Zealand focused on road connectivity and geometry disconnected and duplicated roads, wrongly connected segments, overlapping highways, and messy junctions and roundabouts.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, the challenge is here: [ MapRoulette ]. A service road without connectivity may create navigation issues in the map. Local knowledge matters a lot for these fixes, so any help or feedback from people who map in NZ would be great.

How are the unconnected highways determined? This way has been flagged as one but a route can be found to the nearest settlement. Is there some problem with the tagging?

These duplicate highways tasks are highly questionable. I’ve reviewed all 13, and only one seemed remotely fixable.

• the only one that seems solvable is Way: ‪John Rymer Place‬ (‪1004595135‬) | OpenStreetMap and Way: ‪John Rymer Place‬ (‪7638756‬) | OpenStreetMap - but there’s really no reason for these to be merged.
• two have conflicting tags, such as Way: ‪Savoy Road‬ (‪33767490‬) | OpenStreetMap and Way: ‪Savoy Road‬ (‪1450722281‬) | OpenStreetMap (sidewalk tags differ)
• three are entrances/exits for roundabouts, such as Way: ‪Ellice Road‬ (‪665254412‬) | OpenStreetMap and Way: ‪Ellice Road‬ (‪665254408‬) | OpenStreetMap
• two are physically separate, such as Way: ‪Landing Drive‬ (‪118894265‬) | OpenStreetMap and Way: ‪Landing Drive‬ (‪910464813‬) | OpenStreetMap
• five can’t even remotely be considered duplicates because of their geometry - Way: 986693312 | OpenStreetMap and Way: 986693314 | OpenStreetMap

I think TomTom might need to provide an example of the problem each type of task is trying to show, as it isn’t clear how these need to be fixed.
