Hi all,
I’m raising a concern about changeset #173420021 (edited by user Mariia K) on the boundary of Russia via relation 60189:
The comment on the changeset says:
“This is not RUSSIA, Crimea is Ukraine territory” OpenStreetMap
My concern is not about the territorial status, but that the line removal in that edit appears to break the polygon assembly of the Russia boundary. Specifically:
-
The edit removes a shared segment, which seems to invalidate the continuity of the outer polygon for the Russia boundary.
-
As a result, when the boundary is rendered or processed (in tools or extracts), the relation may fail to produce a correct closed area.
-
I believe the correct method would be to keep the shared line but tag or attribute it differently (or use separate relations/sub-areas) rather than deleting the line outright.
Would someone with boundary or relation experience in OSM be able to review this edit and comment on whether it follows proper editing practices (e.g., handling shared boundary segments in multi-relation cases)?
I’m fairly new to OSM and not sure what the correct approach should be, so any clarification or guidance would be greatly appreciated, especially to know whether a revert or an alternative fix is appropriate.
Thanks a lot for your time and help!
