Cannot save any edits - message tells me to check messages, but I have none!

When using the iD editor, I am getting the following error every time I try to save an edit to OSM:

“You have an urgent message on the OpenStreetMap website. You need to read the message before you will be able to save your edits.”

Unfortunately I don’t have any messages to read! Can anyone tell me what this message means and how I can get past it? I cannot save any edits at present.

I assume it’s because of this block you have been given.

Great. Not sure how I’m supposed to find that message when my inbox says I have zero messages in total, and certainly no new ones.

Sadly, https://github.com/openstreetmap/iD/issues/5400 remains not implemented as of now
