I always thought the whole community, including the US, was largely in agreement that addr:*
tags are for mail delivery and not for describing a location. If the US community is planning to deviate from that and use addr:*
more liberally, maybe it would be a good idea to discuss this in a wider circle.
I know that some people use object:*
to describe that “this thing is near this address but it is not the thing that has the address” (e.g. a vending machine that sits in front of house #123 on ABC street would sometimes be tagged object:housenumber=123
and object:street=ABC street
but never receive addr:*
tags).
