You may have noticed a lot of changes to municipality borders in Switzerland the last couple of weeks in particular in the Ticino. It’s a long story, but the short version is that the borders from swisstopo that we imported in 2012 were/are slightly less good than expected particularly in the Ticino, but we’re working on that now. I’ll likely pen a longer blog post on this in a couple of days.
Anyway I was just working on the border of Vacallo and that had a bit more impact on the international border than expected, not more than typically a couple of metres, but if the Italian community has access to an Italian source for the border it might be a good idea to check if there are any larger discrepancies.

We do have the DBSN, the official dataset by the Italian Military Geographic Institute which uses borders from ISTAT, you can find here its borders superimposed on OSM carto, in some points it agrees with the new version after the changeset:
while in others it seems to agree with the previous version:

Yes some segments are essentially the same with just a few deviations, then in the forest they seem to differ quite a bit, but overall it would seem acceptable.

I’ve now done the international part of Chiassos boundary here the new version clearly conforms much better to the DBSN with just some small differences (this time I checked before doing the edits). However there is one Italy internal boundary here DBSN boundaries that was very different than the DBSN and I eyeballed the northern segment roughly in to where it should be, but that should likely be given a closer look.
