"Betrunkene" near Mallorca

Hey,

I’ve just read about this on Germanys biggest news station: The so called “Ballerman”, essentially Mallorca (i hope i’m spelling it correctly) was being renamed to “Betrunkene” (which means drunk in english). It would be great to kick/ban the people who renamed it that way.

Greetings,

Changesets by barcoderejilla | OpenStreetMap possibly among others

The four changesets that renamed stuff to “Betrunkene” are these ones:

All of them are from the user barcoderejilla | OpenStreetMap who seems to contribute rather rarely.

Hi. You can revert these edits yourself immediately if you see them and you can and should write an email to data@openstreetmap.org detailing your findings so the vandals can be blocked.

Writing here will take much longer to reach the right people.

Ok great, I’ll revert them and write a message to that email. Thanks!

The osm-revert tool is unresponsive (well, the overpass api is, but without that I cant use the osm-revert tool). Could someone else with some other tool maybe revert these changesets? That would be great.

After taking a look at the user barcoderejilla | OpenStreetMap , i believe all of his changesets from today may be reverted (of course only after taking a look at them, but still): Changesets by barcoderejilla | OpenStreetMap

You can use the josm reverter plugin for example. I’ve done that now to revert all the changes by that user from today, they were all vandalism: Changeset: 180970432 | OpenStreetMap

Did you already send a vandalism report to the DWG? There’s also a report option in the OSM user page that you can use.

The past edits by that user also look potentially questionable and have already attracted a few critical comments and reverts regarding name tags.
Potentially also related to sommallorqui blocked by woodpeck | OpenStreetMap

Can you elaborate on that? What did the news say?

Looks like that may already have attracted new users to OSM who tried to fix it (unfortunately only a small part and incorrectly)

The news said that the name of the city “El Arenal” changed on Apple Maps to “Betrunkene” and that its unkown why. It also mentioned that this affects Apple Weather as well and that such changes normally need to be checked by Apple.
Heres the post: https://www.instagram.com/tagesschau/p/DWzWu9SCujY/
(Oh and edit: I now deleted my comment to not attract more people)

The DWG has blocked the account responsible and asked for an explanation.

No idea whether this was intentional or not, but the timing is, well, interesting … :man_shrugging:

Can’t say if it’s really known by that name, but the German name being tagged as int_name=* is… questionable at best. Apparently it’s been like that for 15 years.

(Adding it to the name=* tag like in the recent linked changeset is obviously wrong)

It’s mapped as place=suburb Node: ‪s'Arenal‬ (‪11070700706‬) | OpenStreetMap

While this is a different user name to the originally mentioned mapper, this mapper has already had a similar change reverted a week ago, also referring to “Betrunkene”.

The mapper – almost certainly the same person every time – probably finds this quite amusing.

I consider it a rather brazen form of vandalism that costs some people a lot of unnecessary time…

this one I can confirm on Apple Maps:

Ich habe den Suburb “El Orinal” aufgrund starker Vandalismus-Vermutung nun gelöscht. Die anderen Edits des users erscheinen mir aber auch fraglich.
