Me thinketh the picture in the barrier=kerb wiki going with the footed text needs 180 degrees flipping so the top side is at the left side of the image and the bottom of the kerb is at the right. This then reflects having drawn the kerb line from south to north.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to reverse the text description? The image is used in many pages and many languages, some of which might rely on the image staying exactly as it is.
I’ll try to figure out how long the description has been wrong.
For now I’ll just switch “left” and “right”. If there is real value in mirroring the image, it would have to be uploaded as a separate version, to avoid messing up other pages.
And I’ve reverted your change to the description and mirrored the image instead.
The description field is not, as your edit comment suggests, the description of the image. It is the description of the tag. And the directionality is an important aspect of the tag’s definition.
Specifically, it’s important to document this prominently because any mapper who doesn’t know about it has a 50% change of producing incorrect data. And we all know that most mappers will not read through the entire wiki page before using the tag for the first time. So if this information is hidden somewhere down the page, it will be overlooked.
And now, once again, the text appears to describe the image. Especially mappers who do not actually read the page are likely to miss the actual meaning. Even more so, since the image actually fits the description.
