Automatic address verification

Hi there,

I do have about 500 addresses - just streetnames, housenumber, postal code and cityname. No names of any person. I would like to automatically verify the addresses against the database. Is it possible? Is there an interface within openstreetmap where I can send something like this

<verify>
<street>Virginia Road</street>
<housenumber>20</housenumber>
<postal code>98AB12</postal code>
<city>London</city>
</verify>

and receive e.g. the state (true/false) about whether that address does exist and its geodata?

As far as I know we currently do not have such an interface. This is mainly due to the fact that we do not have all postal codes and house number in OSM.

have very few postal codes and house numbers in OSM…

but you can try to use namfinder to search for “Streetname in city” and maybe you will get matches.
