Hi, sorry for writing in English. I noticed that some historic=monument
were added to the map in Slovenia about nine months ago. However, based on the description (“geodetska planinska”), they seem more like man_made=survey_point
.
Could a local confirm?

I don’t know, but I’ve alerted the original mapper about your question.
It seems they’ve been only been active on OSM for mapping these objects; so they may not respond.
To me, this seems like a man_made=survey_point
, too. (see https://cgd.si/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/166-Vivodnik.pdf)
Hello! Yes, these are actually geodetic points of the 0th and 1st order. However, due to visibility issues of geodetic points in OSM, we decided to mark them as monuments.
Hi opGI, this is called tagging for the renderer and is considered bad practice. If they are geodetic points I propose to edit them all to the proper value, if everybody agrees.
I suggest (taking this as an example) these changes:
historic=monument
→ man_made=survey_point
ref = https://cgd.si/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/172-Krim.pdf
→ this tag should contain the ref code only, so ref=172-Z0
+ source_ref=https://cgd.si/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/172-Krim.pdf
description = Številka 172-Z0, EŠD: 30912, geodetska planinska pot
→ This could be deleted since the ref is already tagged as ref
and “geodetska planiska pot” as =survey_point
. I wonder if an EŠD ref already exist so it could be moved there?
Hi @opGI thanks for replying so swiftly!
I agree with @ivanbranco . These things are neither historical nor monumental.
Perhaps it could be argued that these are man_made=survey_point
+ tourism=artwork
, but I don’t know if that’s too far a stretch.
Seems that imported data was old. Point on Žigartov vrh does not exist any more.
It was very old construction, 10m tower, but has decayed and was demolished several years ago.
