I’ve recently become aware of an online address editor for the UK. Great work. I wanted to use it and also share with a few friends, but I immediately came across an issue.
I’ve been editing addresses in my area for a while now, mostly through StreetComplete. They are correctly rendered in MapComplete and associated usually with buildings. But MapComplete is still asking to add address, as far as I understood, based on cadastral data. I tested and it adds a node, with ref:GB:uprn and urpn_count tags.
My main question is whether it’s possible to associate existing data, e.g. nodes or ways, with an answer to a question, rather than adding a new node in order to get this additional tagging info?
Hi Robert. Unfortunately it is no longer maintained. We set up the MapComplete theme as a pilot project to test out the concept. At the time it did integrate with existing OSM data (sounds like that is broken now) but it had other issues. Ultimately it was too much for a non dev volunteer group to keep on top off.
What a shame, but completely understandable. Thanks for letting me know. I was wondering whether it’s broken or working as expected as building and property is not quite the same and maybe addressing via nodes makes more sense, but in my area it seems quite inconsistent. Some addresses are associated with buildings and some are doubled, so I think something must have gone astray.
I found out about this effort on OSM wiki here so it may be worth making a note about this being no longer maintained.
