I’m new to osm. I work for a non-profit in Senegal and I’d like to map NGOs and non-profits working in the area.
I was wondering if it is possible to add places to a map by entering their geo-coordinates.
If yes, could you please point me towards where I can find information on how to do this?

one starting point at all can be the OSM wiki at http://wiki.openstreetmap.org → Beginners Guide
And in detail: tell us in what form are the geo-coordinates you have. Do you have only values on a paper, or maybe already a GPX file or similar?
Our Java-Editor Josm has a Tool for creating nodes by coordinates.
But you should always have a look at the place whre the node is inserted. Maybe the company is already in our database in a place nearby, or the coordinates point to a wrong place (e.g. in the middle of a river or sea).
